FAQs

Why should I hire a sleep consultant?

As a certified sleep consultant, I’m here to help you, the parent or caregiver! Often clients come to me after trying different methods themselves without results. When you hire me, you get:

  1. Science-backed sleep training tips. Everything I share is based on the science of sleep - meaning it works!

  2. One on one support. I am able to provide accountability that is missing from simply following the methods of someone you follow on Instagram. Consistency is critical in this process, and I can help support you in staying consistent.

  3. Customized plans. Every sleep plan I share is 100% customized. Sleep training is not 1 size fits all. Everything we do is based on the temperament of your child and your family values.

  4. Lifetime knowledge. One of my goals is to educate clients so that they can use what they learned during the program for years to come, and even with future children!

What sets you apart?

I’ve been where you are. I’ve been a sleep deprived mom. I’ve experienced that anxiety not knowing if your child is going to take 20 minutes or 2 hours to fall asleep at night. My three children have given me basically every sleep struggle you can think of - AND I now know how to help you so you don’t have to suffer!

I’m passionate about maternal mental health, and sleep deprivation can truly impact how we are able to function in the world. While I love to help the babies, I get the most satisfaction out of helping parents themselves, when they see how life-changing it can be to have a child that sleeps well.

Will my child cry?

In all honesty, yes, because they are children, and children cry! Babies and children cry because that is their way of communicating to us how they feel. The sleep training programs I provide take into account your cry tolerance, and what makes the most sense based on the age of your child and your parenting values. Working with me helps to minimize crying because when you use the optimal windows of sleep during the day, you can aim to avoid overtiredness.

How long does it take to see results?

Every child is different. Typically, for babies you can see improvement in the first 3-5 nights, depending on what sleep training method you’re using. Toddlers show more improvement in 7-10 nights. This assumes you’re following the plan with 100% consistency and aren’t experiencing any other special circumstances. Sleep training is really a 4 week process, and results might not be linear. It is normal to have ups and downs sometimes within that time. It might not be perfect after 2 weeks, but you’ll continue to see improvement over time if you stick with the plan!

I’m traveling next week - can we sleep train my child before I leave?

We do not recommend traveling within 4 weeks of starting to sleep train your child. Travel often throws kids off due to new sleep environments and schedule changes. That being said, every situation is different, so if you have a trip planned, let’s chat and see how we can plan around it!

My child goes to daycare and I have no control over her schedule. Is that going to be a problem?

Nope! We work with children in daycare all the time and have a list of tips specifically for you and your child’s teachers.

I’ve been using wake windows religiously and it’s not working. How can you help?

Wake windows are not everything when it comes to sleep training. While helpful for newborns, we can’t only rely on wake windows for babies over 4 months old. It’s important to also take into account the quality of sleep that came before that wake window! We use the science of sleep to optimize your child’s daily schedule, so they are napping and sleeping in the windows when they will get the most restorative sleep possible.

I don’t want to night wean yet. Can I still sleep train my baby?

Absolutely! We work with families to create a plan that works for them, and if you want to or need to continue feeding at night, we can work feeds into the sleep training plan.
